2004 Chevrolet Colorado Recall Details and Aftermaths

The 2004 model Chevrolet Colorado was recalled couple of times due to some defects; here’s a retrospective look at these 2004 Chevrolet Colorado recalls.

First 2004 Chevrolet Colorado Recall

On 27th April 2006, it was recalled first time due to faults in exterior lighting and brake lights switch. And, about 404733 Chevrolet Colorado models were affected with this recall. In short, certain pickup trucks experienced permanent failure in function of brake lamps, which were lighted up at unnecessary times. The middle high-mounted stop lamp was affected in every instance. This included cruise control becoming inoperative unexpectedly. Because of these problems, the driver was not able to guess whether brake had been applied properly or not. So, during this recall all these defective/affected parts were replaced.

Second 2004 Chevrolet Colorado Recall

The second Chevrolet Colorado recall was held on 29th July, 2009. In this recall, nearly 185903 Colorado units participated, and the reason for recall was trouble with exterior lightning and brakes.

This recall was held in Arizona, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Hawaii, Nevada, Mississippi, New Mexico, South Carolina, Puerto Rico, U.S, Texas, Utah, and Virgin Islands. In these states, some of the Colorado models had a brake light button that did not work as expected, due to design flaws. Consequently, brakes could malfunction or all warning lights could be in on condition unintentionally, which resulted in potential accidents, and road crashes.
